NSLComm Announces Rebrand, Presents Blueprint for World's First LEO Satellite Constellation with Expandable Antennas

NSLComm, a leading satellite technology enterprise, has formally announced its transition to BeetleSat. The name change comes as the company looks to rebrand and better reflect its mission to provide innovative solutions that push the boundaries of satellite communications technology while expanding accessibility and connecting the world.

BeetleSat’s primary focus is on developing the world’s first constellation of low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites equipped with intersatellite link (ISL) made of Ka-band expandable antennas. This infrastructure promises to revolutionize the way that satellite communication networks are designed and operated, providing better performance and increased flexibility at a fraction of the cost of traditional systems.

The patented antenna technology, developed by NSLComm, works by compacting the main reflector during launch, allowing antennas to be launched with existing rocket launchers for GEO/ LEO satellites. The BeetleSat constellation is expected to offer unprecedented levels of performance, as throughput is increased by x100 compared to the same satellite size across a wider range of frequencies.
Another key advantage of the BeetleSat constellation is that the capital expenditure (CAPEX) required is at least an order of magnitude lower than other constellations. This means that BeetleSat will be the first profitable LEO satellite constellation of its kind.

BeetleSat will be partnering with global and regional satellite operators, mobile network operators, and internet service providers to deliver improved global broadband for corporate and government applications. These include point-to-point secure communications, mobility, and cellular backhaul/trunking services. Other verticals may also be served upon demand, subject to further infrastructure deployment.

BeetleSat will deploy 240 satellites plus 24 spares in 12 orbital planes at 800 km altitude and 53.5 degrees inclination, providing up to 2 Tbps capacity in ±65 degree latitudes. The BeetleSat constellation will be manufactured in partnership with ARQUIMEA, BeetleSat’s largest shareholder and main industrial partner. The Spain-based group is a cross-sectoral tech corporation with over two decades of experience in space-grade systems and parts.

In addition to Dr. Itzhaki, BeetleSat’s season executive team includes Senior Advisor Ferran Tejada, Chief Financial Officer Shmuel Bornstein, and recent hires Patricio Northland and Moshe Golani, who are joining the company as Executive President and Chief Operating Officer, respectively. The project is now in the preliminary manufacturing stages for the first two units of the constellation, with full deployment planned for 2026.
